Introduction to Security Awareness

What is Security Awareness Training?

Security awareness is about protecting information for you and your company. This training helps you find and act on common security risks and learn how to prevent them. Privacy does still exist, even though most people have given it away (whether they know it or not) to their favorite apps and social media platforms. Your devices listen to you. Your emails are scraped. Your search history is sold. As the saying goes, if you’re not paying for it … you’re the product. So how can you take back some of that privacy, or at least better protect yourself going forward?

Many employees assume that security is the responsibility of the IT department or outside security contractors. That is not the case. End users have significant ethical and legal obligations to safeguard company data. This course is going to outline best practices for ensuring that you have a secure workplace environment, as well as for protecting your personal data. We are going to cover:

  • How to Prevent Common Types of Cyber Attacks
  • Basic Cyber Hygiene
  • Types of Sensitive Data
  • Common Compliance Requirements That May Affect Your Organization
  • How to Prevent Phishing Attacks
  • Other Cyber Threats

This training aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to avoid becoming the victim of a cyberattack. The end of each section will feature a quiz, with a certificate at the end of the course.
